Why These Natural Ingredients?
Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Extract
Licorice is known for its
protection of the gastointestinal and stomach lining, and has the shown
the ability to improve function and secretions of mucosal cells within
the stomach. Higher doses can be taken without adverse side effects when
the glycyrrhizin is removed (as it is with DGL).
The deglycyrrhized form of licorice differs from those often used for adrenal and other health concerns, allowing for higher doses which help heal the gastrointestinal lining. DGL has been found to protect the stomach and gastrointestinal tract through its ability to accelerate the secretion rate of mucus by the gastric mucosa. DGL must be chewed, so when it reaches the stomach it can break up and disperse, to attain gastric healing. Gelatin capsules do not allow DGL to break up and disperse in the stomach.
